EXPLORE

The Easiest Swing in golf

Brian wrote a book in 2010 documenting all he had learned in his first 45 years as a pro, called Positive Impact Golf. He also filmed a short video clip on YouTube the following year called 'The Easiest Swing in Golf.' Gradually, golfers and coaches around the world starting getting in touch wanting to know more. Brian part-wrote this follow-up book a decade later, but sadly passed away before completing the work. Fortunately, Philip had already been tasked by Brian to complete his work.

Brian had merely wanted to document his ideas, as they were very unconventional and he didn't want them to be lost or forgotten. He never expected to become a celebrity coach, but by the time he passed his book had sold tens of thousands of copies, was published in four languages and he had trained more than a dozen coaches in several different countries to coach in the same way.

Brian believed that within all of us, there is a natural way to swing the club and play the game that often gets lost due to trying to conform to outdated 'rules' that golfers are told they have to obey. By breaking free from his "Three Deadly Don'ts' and by following his 'Six Basics' whilst ridding yourself of tension, a road to much more enjoyable golf lies ahead.

Follow thousands of other golfers who have discovered this easier way to play that gives you joy and reward even on days when you aren't at your best.

Philip shows you later in the book how he also made the sea-change from an ordinary twenty handicap amateur to a successful professional and lays down the key factors that helped him make this breakthrough. There is advice that is easy to follow and implement into your game that will help you to get to the very best version of you that you can be. There is little in the way of any technical jargon in the book, it is mostly just a way to discover and release your own genius along with making some changes to the way you perceive the game and its issues.

This is a book you will likely read again and again as it supports your journey to a relaxed and enjoyable game.

Brian Sparks Easiest Swing

Brian Sparks

  • By challenging ingrained beliefs and liberating golfers from unnecessary restrictions. Brian Sparks was able to make golfers believe in their own capabilities again and find an easier and more enjoyable way to play the game.
  • Brian turned pro at East Berks GC in 1966 and played the tour from 69-72 before moving to The Downshire. He then worked as Head Pro at Barton on Sea, Staverton Park, Stoneham before moving to France in 1987 to become Head coach at Sully sur Loire, Chateau des Sept Tours, Sable Solesmes. After that he became General Manager at Les Bordes and The Lambourne Club before returning England in 2006 to coach at my golf course and driving range, Manston Golf Centre. I sold Manston in 2011 and Brian stayed on there for a further 5 years before then moving to Canterbury GC as the final home for his wonderful coaching.
  • He believed in the power of questions, challenging player’s beliefs and that coaches must work very hard not to talk too much. He felt that most teachers either confuse or bring too many ideas too quickly to their pupils. Thereby, leaving the player in a worse state than when they started. By concentrating on leaving players to think for themselves with the minimum input from their coach their swing and game would flourish. In this way the coach is just a guide helping to let the player find out for themselves their own Easiest and repeatable swing.

Philip Sparks

  • Golf didn't come quite as easy for Philip, with years spent frustrated with his own game and struggling to pass the playing ability test to turn pro. He understands the difficulties so many golfers experience when playing this game and can relate to the struggles in trying to overcome them. He believes in every golfer he sees, that within them they have a golf swing that can allow them to enjoy this game.
  • After successfully qualifying as a PGA professional, Philip continued to dive deep into the game and the swing. Continuously striving to increase his own understanding of what made a great golf swing. He worked alongside Brian for many years and always enjoyed deep discussions challenging his own discoveries and developing his ideas.
  • Philip became a successful player in the South East of the UK and coached many golfers that later became professionals and tour players. His passion in later years became making the game as easy as it can be. He took over from Brian and became even more entrenched in Easiest Swing, tasked with finishing the book Brian had started. He loves the game, loves Easiest Swing and loves helping golfers around the world discover the same level of enjoyment he does from playing 18 holes of golf.
