Open Host 15 Times

Royal St.George’s golf club
Founded in 1887 and intended by its founder, Dr William Laidlaw Purves, to seek to emulate in the South of England the ethos and traditions of St Andrews, St George’s is consistently ranked amongst the leading courses in the World.
Royal St. George’s has hosted The Open a remarkable 15 times, making it the most-played Open venue outside of Scotland. From the historic victory of Harry Vardon in 1894, when it became the first course outside Scotland to host The Open, to Collin Morikawa’s triumph in 2021, it remains a centerpiece of global golf.
Open Host Once

Princes Golf Club
Founded in 1906, Princes famously hosted The Open in 1932, where Gene Sarazen, using his innovative ‘sand wedge’ captured the Claret Jug.
Striking a rare balance between modern ambience and historic charm, Prince's Golf Club offers 27 Holes of outstanding championship links golf in an idyllic coastal setting. Having undergone a significant redevelopment since 2017, the club held the prestigious 2023 Women's Amateur Championship and hosted the Final Qualifying for The Open Championship from 2018 to 2022. The club is now ever-present in all Top 100 Great Britain and Ireland rankings and is embarking on perhaps its most ambitious period in modern history since hosting the 1932 Open Championship.
Open Host twice

Royal Cinque Ports golf club
Established in 1892, Royal Cinque Ports has hosted The Open twice, in 1909 and 1920. Known for its stunning views and demanding links layout, it has long been revered as one of England’s finest courses. Though weather has interrupted its role in hosting The Open in the past, its inclusion on the prestigious R&A roster hints at the possibility of its return to The Open spotlight.
“After another opportunity of playing over the Deal course I am still of the opinion I have previously expressed, that it is the best course in England.”
